Monster Hunter couldn't be bigger in Japan. Nintendo just snagged the series for the 3DS, both 3G and 4. To get people even more excited about both, special edition bundles have been announced for release on December 10 for various budgets.
For more info on what these various bundles include, and to pre-order (via proxy of course), head over to the Monster Hunter Tri 3G e-Capcom page.
Seen these before? Good. Did you wish that they had come in the right size for a 3DS? Well, wish granted! These are due out on October 27th in Japan. The Mario and Luigi cases will be 1,800yen (~$23), and the denim mushroom case will be 2,000yen (~$26). We'll probably see them a month later.
In January next year, the eight robot masters from Mega Man 2 will be unleashed upon the world . . . in dot strap form. Rockman Dot Strap Collection Vol. 3 will be another set of ten, with only one secret strap this time instead of an impossible-to-get two. Coming in cases of eight, blind-boxed with possible duplicates, they made it even harder than previous sets for collectors. The set retails for ¥4,000, but AmiAmi has them for ¥3,000 as a pre-order. With this being the very first merchandise for some of these characters, combined with the ultra-popularity of the title, this will be the best-selling set of these so far.
Coming in both Xbox 360 and PS3 flavors, this very special Collector's Edition of Sonic Generations comes with all sorts of goodies for Sonic's 20th birthday.
Included in the collector’s edition is a collectable figurine featuring both Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic, an exclusive, individually numbered commemorative “Gold Ring”, and a “20 Years of Sonic Art” book, containing never before seen sketches and images from the past 20 years. Also contained in the Collector’s Edition are the ‘20th Anniversary Sonic Soundtrack’ featuring a selection of tracks handpicked by Sonic Team, and the ‘History of Sonic: Birth of an Icon’ documentary, an exclusive collection of interviews and footage charting Sonic’s life from inception through to becoming one of the most iconic characters in videogame history. Limited edition lenticular packaging and bonus additional downloadable content for the game are the final components that make up this unique collector’s edition for Sonic Generations.
Pre-order now for a November release.
There you have it. Officially on sale in Japan in a similarly-styled box to the Mega Man X previously released. Best of all, the box shows what is coming, Full Armor X!
We have a lot to talk about here. Pins, patches, keychains, charms, and more. There are even some official wall scrolls! Most of this stuff comes from Mega Man 10 fame, especially the Bass items where Bass was fully retrofitted for playthrough of the 8-bit throwback Mega Man 10. You'll find a few Mega Man X items too.
You can check out suggested pricing at AAAanime.com, but expect those prices to go up when you see these at retail! Some of these are out now, while some are coming soon.
Individual pictures, price estimations, and release dates on all of this stuff can be found after the break, so get clicking!
A pipe and a question mark block can store just about anything in this new set from Sanei. The pics show them storing other plushes . . . but that's just silly.
These will come out alongside the cushions in December 2011.
No real scale is given by any retailer yet, so I'm not sure what exactly it could hold, but judging from the Mario Sanei plush there, it may be able to hold a couple of Wii Remotes decently.
You can snag a pre-order at NCSX, or use your favorite import shop.
So you're a stone enemy who has a job to hang out in a specific spot and smash anything that comes next to you. Next thing you know, you're plushified and put on a couch. People lean on you, rather than fear you. While it may not be good for Thwomp, it's great for Mario collectors!
This set of three large cushions from Sanei is up for pre-order today for a December 2011 release.
While NCSX has them up for $50.90 a piece, several import shops have them a bit cheaper. The problem is shipping. Thwomp (Dossun in Japan) appears to be a bit larger, and therefore more expensive at other retailers.
Just don't give Thwomp too hard a time for being so soft . . .
You may have heard about a tiny little event going on in Seattle called Halofest, surrounding a little game called Halo. In Halofest, there is a store known as the Commissary. In this place is probably the greatest accumulation of Halo merchandise for sale ever assembled.
Kotaku posted a video tour of the store. Go check it out, if you're into that sort of thing.
An official Nintendo license. A C3 Hobby Toy Show. TWO new Metroid figures. Sometimes things just come together. Thank you, Max Factory.
A 1/8 scale statue figure of Zero Suit Samus from Metroid: Other M was seen at the show, as well as a smaller 1/12 Power Suit Samus posable figure (figma). Oh yeah, and did you see that Metroid in the background? First ever painted Metroid figure. It's about time.
More leaked photos of these amazing figures from Tomopop and Tokyo Hunter after the break.
Syco Collectibles has obtained the Mortal Kombat license in association with parent company Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The previously announced Scorpion will be joined by Raiden soon. You can pre-order now.
Other characters planned include Liu Kang, Shao Kahn, and, if demand is strong enough, Skarlet, Kenshi and Rain.
"Characters like Sonya, Ermac, Skarlet, Johnny Cage, Sindel, Reptile, Sektor, Baraka, Noob Saibot and Kung Lao are currently in the pipeline with the rest of the Roster expected to follow!"
More info here.
While many characters are planned in various forms (premium, bust, and statue), there is a place to request a special one-off exclusive statue for the MK Online community. Simply head here to submit a character.
It's a good, if expensive, time to be an MK fan!
A bunch of new stuff has made it to Toys R Us stores this week. Two of the Mario Kart Wii kits have been spotted: the Mario Trophy kit and the Mario and Yoshi Finishing Line kit. The latter kit features two new Wild Wing vehicles. A sale is currently going on for 20% off these and other K'Nex kits. The kits are regularly $49.99 each. Ouch. $10 off helps, though.
There was also a display showing off some of the upcoming kits and parts that will be available. Pics after the break.
There was also a case of Assassin's Creed figures that you can see after the break too.
There's also some some contest and sale stuff I found that you can see . . . after the break.
Just hit the button to read more, would ya?
Innovative Designs LLC and Fast Forward LLC are releasing a plethora of back to school items. For closer pictures of the items in the above photo and a list of what it contains, head past the break.
AmiAmi is listing a new Mario Balance Game that looks like a Jenga-style tower game with added Mario elements. Coin blocks, mushrooms, and a Mario figure to climb the stack are shown in the subject-to-change concept art.
The game is listed at ¥2,500, but the pre-order is listed at nearly 20% off at AmiAmi today. This would go great with the Donkey Kong Jenga released in 2008!
The game is due out in November of this year from Media Factory.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has a dragon named Alduin, the World Eater. What better character to base a special edition off of than that? Also included is some art book and a making-of DVD thingy. Oh yeah, it also includes some major game that's coming out. For the low low price of $149.99, this set is out in November, around the 11th or something. A few people know about it.
A set of several new Mario figures have been released into the wild in various sizes from Global Holdings. The larger set, seen packaged in boxes, consists of five base figures, with colored Yoshis making the set larger. A case will contain the following:
1x Yoshi (random color)
Therefore, the hardest figures to come by in this set will be the colored Yoshis. We've seen Green, Pink, and Yellow so far. A Cyan may be in play as well if the other sets are any indicator. Entertainment Earth has them up for pre-order to be released by the case very soon. The paint jobs on these seem much better than most of the other previously released figures. However, it is a little odd seeing little Toad in the same packaging designed to hold Wario. There's a lot of extra space, and some consumers will question paying $8.99 each for the wide variety of sizes in the set.
Also released was a host of mini figures. The new set contains Bowser, Luigi, Mario, Toad, Green Yoshi, Yellow Yoshi, Cyan Yoshi, and Pink Yoshi in various packing. Individually, each figure is $4.99. A set packaged together that consists of Bowser, Luigi, Mario, Toad, Cyan Yoshi, and Pink Yoshi is $19.99. They will also be available in two-packs soon. The paint jobs on these vary a bit more, but they seem to be a little sloppy at times.
Converse and designer Chuck Taylor bring you another round of Mario love with these two new designs.
The first two designs, called the All Star Super Mario Bros. PS HI, released last month at ¥8,190 per pair.
This new set, called the All Star Super Mario Bros. SC HI, will release this month at a new price of ¥9,240. You can see the classic NES game's logo on the tongue which is a nice touch. I'd like to see the inside, the tread, any other details, and the box these come in. I just need more. Heh. Hopefully we'll get more detailed shots upon release.
In 25 years, there have been sixteen games released in the Zelda series, and the box art of each will be printed on metal pins for release. Takara Tomy is handling the release, so we know that they will be high quality and also limited.
These will release in November this year in random gashapon capsules, but the full set is currently available for pre-order at NCSX for $68.90.
If you're baulking at the price, it's actually an amazing price for a set this big, and the value for the complete set will most likely skyrocket.
